bikhir.ws The Global Domains International (GDI) company have announced that it will now possible to own internationalized domain names. What is an internationalized domain name? An internationalized domain name (IDN) is an internet domain name that contains one or more non-ASCII characters. Such domain names could contain letters with diacritics (a small sign added to a letter to alter pronunciation or to distinguish between similar words), as required by many non-English languages, or characters from non-Latin scripts such as Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese or Hindi.

ICANN, the company that assigns what are called domain names for the Web is making a big change and rolling out a program to dramatically increase the number and kind of names available. However, that could prove to be a costly endeavor for some businesses. Ray Suarez leads a debate over the effects of the new rules.
